Carvoeiro is a charming expanded fishing village, although the fishing boats on the beach are now mostly used during the summer to take visitors to see the Grottoes. A short walk up past the ruins takes you to another beach, secluded and accessed by steps down to the sand.

Carvoeiro is located in the centre of the Algarve coast within 2 hour’s drive from Spain to the East , an hour to the surfing beaches to the West and the famous Cap St Vincente with the furthest south western lighthouse in Europe. Protected by the Monchique Mountains it enjoys its own micro-climate.

There are many golf courses within easy reach. The village has a multitude of shops and boutiques, mini-supermarkets and a municipal market offering a range of excellent local produce. The numerous bars and restaurants cater for all tastes and pockets.

Carvoeiro is a great place from which to explore the many beaches and coastal villages along the Algarve.
